Energy and Resources
The story of American prosperity can be directly traced back to breakthroughs in the discovery, production, and distribution of energy and our natural resources. In like manner, an abundant supply of energy will be essential to power our future, with new data centers and high-performance AI computing models expected to require as much as three times the amount of energy we produce today. Past achievements such as hydraulic fracturing and new frontiers like advanced nuclear can inspire a renewed sense of urgency to match our energy and resource policies with the growing opportunity of new technologies.
Aerospace
Space is now a linchpin for our national and economic security. Launches and investments into space are growing every year, while the proliferation of satellites in orbit demands continued leadership to protect and expand America’s place in the stars. Private sector companies are leading this renaissance with reusable rockets, space domain awareness, and even mining—but further regulatory reform is essential as foreign adversaries like Russia and China increase their national spending and attempt to close the gap.
Advanced Defense Systems
The nature of conflict is changing rapidly, with attributable and autonomous weapons systems now regularly deployed to great effect on the battlefield, and software becoming nearly as important as hardware when it comes to winning wars. Simply put, we cannot rely solely on the systems, processes, and thinking of the last century if we are to remain on top in the next century. Instead, recalibrating our defense industrial base to become more dynamic and efficient is necessary to protect our warfighters and deter our adversaries.
Health and Biotechnology
A revolution is underway in life sciences and healthcare, from gene therapies and personalized medicine to accelerated drug development and digital health tools. With the proper support, these advancements hold the potential to produce better patient outcomes, lower costs across the board, and transform the way we take care of ourselves and our loved ones for years to come.
Competition with China
The greatest foreign threat facing the United States is the Chinese Communist Party. Even so, long-term challenges require long-term planning. This was the spirit of the House Select Committee on China and its charter mission remains as important today as ever. Whether it is strengthening our economy and ending intellectual property theft or standing against military aggression and enhancing our cyber resiliency, America should speak with one voice when it comes to addressing these generational challenges.
